Hello! My name is DrJankovich, or Casey if you prefer to use my real name. Below is the complete history of my channel, but to sum it up, I have been creating content in some way since 2010. I have been creating primarily Minecraft content since late-2019.
My name is a play on the word, “jank,” because most of what I do in Minecraft is a bit janky! If you would like to know more about the MC worlds I play on, read more here
Janky History
I technically started content creation shortly before November 30, 2010. My friend, Criss, and I decided we wanted to make a YouTube Channel. No real plan for it. We simply wanted to upload silly videos to make people laugh.
The “CrissANDCasey” YouTube channel was formed!
Unfortunately, since we were two highschool kids. We didn’t have the resources to maintain a serious content schedule. Our content consisted of very short clips of things we thought were funny, as well as gameplay tutorials for Skyrim. After about two years time, our motivation for the channel fizzled out.
Fast forward to 2016. I was attending college, and in my downtime, I found myself watching YouTube videos more and more. The fact that you could make videos to earn a living was really fascinating to me. In fact, I was so fascinated, that I decided to give it a try!
It just so happened I was in the process of earning enough money to build my first gaming PC. I figured this was the perfect thing to document on video. The only camera I had was an old Acer Laptop, so the quality wasn’t the best. Although, I managed to produce around 10 videos about the various parts I was buying and why I thought those were the best choice. This series was brought to an end when I successfully built my first PC.
By this time, I had a taste for what producing videos on a schedule was like and I really enjoyed it! My next idea for a series was “Tech Chat.” Which was a series that would give advice to people looking to build their first PC. (Bold move having built only one PC, I know!)
Tech Chat was a really big success relative to my small channel. I met so many new people. I had requests to cover certain topics, and I was expected to keep a strict schedule for the first time ever. I really enjoyed the challenge of keeping this series interesting. However, after about 6 months, I started to lose interest and the series came to an end.
The following two years were really quite slow. I didn’t have a clear direction for the channel. I didn’t stick to any series. Understandably, interest in the channel was an all-time low.
Fast forward to 2019, Criss came back into the picture! We experimented with a lot of ideas. We made content playing Fallout 76, and even started the “Paperhats Podcast,” where we would discuss current events around games.
In mid-2019, we started dabbling in Minecraft. Eventually, I decided to pay for a hosted Minecraft server. Where Criss, Kelsey, and I could log in 24/7 and make content from it. Our plan was to make this server our community server.
This was also around the time I discovered the Hermitcraft server on YouTube. I couldn’t get enough of watching that series. Eventually, I was inspired enough to start making videos from the “CrissANDCasey Minecraft Server.” These videos are still public on my channel today!
In late-2019, Kelsey and I remained on the server. We officially changed the name to “Paperhats,” and deemed it a server for content creators. After some recruiting, we started to bring on new members and the first season of Paperhats came to an end in mid-2020.
In October of 2021, I decided it was time to change my channel name to “DrJankovich.” People call me “Janko” for short these days.
For the next two years I didn’t release much content due to many IRL factors. However, in late-2023 I realized that if I want to enjoy content creation again, I need to make content I’m proud of. This is the time I started studying what makes films interesting. Looking up tutorials on new editing techniques. Watching as many Minecraft videos as possible to understand what makes a good “Let’s Play.”
My efforts were working! I noticed a sizeable uptick in views. Paperhats SMP was recruiting consistently again for the first time in a while.
It’s now 2025, I’m still currently releasing consistent content across Twitch and YouTube. My goal remains making each piece of content better than the last, and I only have you guys to thank for helping me get here!
